We sail a 45 foot Jeanneau. And, like everyone else, we have the usual instruments and Autohelm. We are expecting to be on the boat for around 8 to 9 months each year. I need to run a computer and need to keep the batteries charged to kick start the heating. It would be good to use a toaster and hairdryer but we don't expect to install a washing machine or other hungry systems. We are looking at two generators: Mastervolt 3500 and Paguro 4000. Any experience of either unit or comment on user issues, reliability, serviceing, parts etc?

Are these mains generators?
I have been looking at the diesel battery chargers that are beginning to appear. Water cooled and silenced just the same as the mains models but only cut in when the batteries are going down. Mains is supplied from the Inverter so charger only runs when batteries need topping up.
