choked up water inlet

hi all
my out drive is now fully serviced but i have noticed that the water intakein the leg is partially full of dead crustaceans, and am concernd that they will end up in my water pump is there any way to remove them ?? i did think of using something like mr muscle lime scale remover to try and dissolve them has any one any ideas ????

My weapon of choice it a old screwdriver .They do not like it up em.

I think its the litle grilly thing at base of leg thats bunged up.
