I have a 9.9 Evinrude which the buyer of my last boat did not want. And rather than part with an excellent engine I thought I would buy a small boat without an engine for something to play with while the sun is out and I continue to look for a 18 - 21 ft Outboard Power Boat. My logic is that as I like Whitehaven I would go up there withe the bigger one and as I only live a few miles from Windamere use a smaller one for a day at a time.
So when I saw an elderly 15ft Bayliner Speedboat without an engine on Ebay, I thought, put my outboard on that, and on Windemere where they have just employed a new Speed Limit Enforcement Officer, then the 10Mph would be just about achievable with this engine.
BUT I have realised that the Bayliner has a steering wheel and my Evinrude does not have a bracket with a hole in it where the steering bolt goes so the steering wont work.
So I will have to buy a new Outboard with the steering attachment. So are these new Imported Chinese Outboards really that dreadful. I have not even seen one for sale on the second hand market yet, which means that either nobody has bought them new, or the people who have bought them wont sell them.
My boat will take a 50hp. WHAT WOULD YOU BUY.
PS. If you have a 18-21ft Outboard Power Boat with Cuddy for sale please send me a Personal Message.

i spent last week looking at several new 20-25hp engines.
a neighbour had a chinese Hidea and it looked ok as its only 5months old but he says he wishes hed got a known make so ive ordered a tohatsu 20hp thats being fitted on wednesday.

i think it may be false economy to save 300-500 pounds when the engine costs 2500 and the chinese outboard may be difficult to sell
