I intend to buy one of these heaters but need advice as to which controller to buy. The simple rotary dial which I assume controls temperature plus an on/off switch appeals because of its simplicity. However should I go for the apparently more complex version with an led screen? What would be the advantage to the latter? Thanks, Bob

The simple rotary one is more than sufficient, it can be set to operate as a thermostat if required, or as a simple heat controller, it can also show error codes.

The LCD one enables you to alter the settings if needed, can be programmed as a timer and also has snazzy (cheesey) animations showing the pump cycles, glow plug operation, burner temp etc.
I replaced one of my rotary ones with an LCD because I'm shallow and I like flashing lights...
Also, the big advantage (for me) of the LCD one is that it operates with a remote control. I have two heaters, they're both synced to the same remote so that I can operate them as one unit.

The reality is the controllers are so cheap that you can chop and change and see what suits you. My replacement LCD one was IRO £8 delivered and they've probably dropped in price since then.

Mine came with a simple controller, just ON/OFF and UP and DOWN buttons. Seems to work ok with six heat settings. On the facebook site, lots of people seem to have problems with the LCD controller, and a lot of people who have problems which to me are poor installations.

My heater came with the blue lcd with remote, but bought a rotary for £3.99 for simplicity.
Afternoon Pete, I have a Chinese diesel heater with the black LCD display, is it easy to change it to a rotary controller, the LCD is a pain
