The intended plan is to pay for a years harbour dues as we will be about fro a few months.Occassionally we will take up the visitors mooring at Itchenor but alot of the time we will be at anchour...is there any charge for anchouring above the harbour dues;cannot see any mentionon the chi page.

No, but you cannot go away and leave the boat unattended,.

The same applies to picking up an unattended mooring; obviously ones with no tender tied on are the best bet, though of course it's always worth checking the chain condition down as far as possible, I've found some horrors !

I'm not sure if I should advertise this, but the best anchorage is on the West side of Emsworth Channel, anywhere roughly halfway down.

If you're lucky you may see the resident seals, but do have an anchor light at night as fishing boats go up & down.

Emsworth is the nicest most accessible town with all the facilities, and the marina there is a nice spot; just have bino's ready to look at the tide guage at the sill on the approach, there's a photo of a 40'+ yacht whose skipper failed to do this, framed in the Gents' loo !

There are pubs and restaurants of all tastes and prices, I think the 'Bluebell' pub rather good, but one must order ahead for food at peak times.

If into history there is an interesting museum and several good books on the harbour and Emsworth itself; feel free to PM me for details, no connection to any places mentioned.
