Would love to see her go to a good home. I've got a partial set of plans and loads of other info about the class. Feel free to get in touch if you decide to buy.

Good luck to her and I hope she finds a good home. Aren't these wooden boats? Depressing to reflect that you probably can't buy 2 tonnes of firewood for the money offered right now.

A long history to that boat, I owned it for a while until late 90's, had some great fun with it and even have a photo of it somewhere on that very quay !

If you're thinking of bidding I strongly suggest you view her first ! (note the lack of photos)

Lovely boats, I fancied one ever since I was a boy; I hope she finds a good home with an owner who knows what he/ she's doing, they can talk to PhillM about serious refits !

Well yes they do need a bit (lot) of tlc but personally I'd not change a thing.

Hope she finds a good home. I'm only aware of 5 others surviving and as she has such a local connection, she really is local history.

There is a water stain well above the waterline - "Will need trailer to move" suggests she won't float?

Not sure they have the waterline right.

But I agree I'd want to see her floating.

I may be wrong but if she is levarac then she was sailing last season.

And if that is levarac its caravel spelt backwards as named by her designer for a 1960's Boatshow.

I have spoken to the owner - don't fancy the workload myself but boats like this cannot be allowed to go to waste - and she is hopefully safe from the scrappers, Kubota twin cylinder diesel too.

Sounds like she floated fine on her trip to Fareham, but having tried this before on a delivery trip for a Hillyard from Portsmouth to Chichester I'd be keen to take a bucket, and a crew to work it !

I think I have a picture of her sailing / motiring last year. This was collected as part of the project to trace the class for the original designer, David Cheverton. I think I know who the owner, prior to the current owner was. If I am right (and of course I have not been able to check with him overnight) then she has had a new-ish engine, had some planks replaced and a bowsprit that the owner prior to him had fitted, removed.

My father in law has spent many years restoring Wina2 (see www.wina2.net) to a very high standard. Unfortunately due to his progressing years he is currently selling her and for someone looking for a well restored Caravelle she would be a far better prospect.

I hope she finds a good home.

Wina 2 looks fab. There's a similar Caravel Mk1 at Hythe, where I keep my Hillyard. She's been ashore now for a couple of years, but at least her owner does come down from time to time, to keep an eye on her.

My parents had a MK2 from new (Carella, later renamed Nancy Kelly) in 1964, and enjoyed her for four years, until a growing family meant they had to get something a bit bigger! She remained in the same sailing club in Portsmouth Harbour right up until only 5 or 6 years ago, when I believe she moved to the East coast.

Thanks for the link. I shall get my father's name added beside the name of the Caravel that he had built.
Somewhere I also have the boat's old file, with a brochure and build invoices etc, which I shall scan and send in, in due course. :-)

July 2013 I had the pleasure of taking Paean (Caravel MK2) to Cowes Classics Week and raced against the Cheverton boat, "Dangeld". We are trying to get 5 Cheverton's entered for next year, so if you have one, or know someone who does, please put them in touch.

The event is open to anyone with any boat that qualifies. The entrance rules are very simple: your boat needs to be over 50 years old and it has to meet some fairly basic and simple safety rules (and they are easy to meet - mine passed without guard rails). You DO NOT need to be an experienced racer and it helps if you like parties.
