Chesapeake Jellyfish Map

For those of you in the Chesapeake who've been reduced to using the sun-shower to cool off for fear of jellyfish, our favourite US government agency (NOAA) has produced a real-time sea nettle probability map.

I think it's pretty cool.

Hauppage used to do a usb satellite digi decoder but no longer. Anyone know of an alternative so I can watch UK TV in Europe? The last thing I want is to be contaminated by local culture when travelling.

It doesn't show much probability of them down in the south of the Bay though, which is a bit counter intuitive and we definitely found the density of the little blighters higher the closer we got to Hampton. We've only had one encounter and that was my youngest son who got caught in Mobjack Bay - there didn't appear to be any around so we went for a dip off the stern only to find they were about 3-4ft down. Bluidy painful stings, but the meat tenderiser worked a treat (nothing else would).

I think other people have pretty much covered this, but a Sea Nettle is a kind of small jellyfish with a mild sting. There's a Wikipedia article about them.
