Hi Guys

I'm organising a home counties rowing gig expedition this Friday - Saturday.

We are departing from Walton on the friday morning and will be staying over at the Chertsey Camping Club campsite at the bridge.

I urgently need to find a stopover mooring for our boat near the bridge. I see on the visit thames site there are some at 'chertsey bridge'. Does anyone know if these are any good and whereabouts they are located as the site does not give very much detail.

Do you think it would be possible to moor on the approach to the lock overnight?

Thanks for any help, it is very much appreciated.

Call Chertsey lock , they have a pontoon opposite the campsite with electric and a water point . As said on your other thread you could moor near the pub and depending on what boat you have you may well be able to get right into the campsite as the have made the cut a bit further into it .
Failing that there is a very small pontoon on the camp site in the weir stream and another cut after that to port but that is private .
Whatever you do dont take a powered boat near the weir ! Its about 1" deep !

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me. I am unsure on a figure but I don't think it draws much.

Can you confirm if there is or isn't mooring rings/bollards by the pub?

Thanks

Hi I was in Sunbury today so came home via Chertsy to have a look for you, yes mooring rings ARE fittted in the cut all the way upto the pub wall. looks to be about 3ft but only had a bit of fallen branch and no tape measure to try the depth with

Hi

That is very kind of you, thanks very much indeed.

We have a home counties gig so probably not very well known, it doesn't draw much so should be ok.

As long as their are rings we can put a cable lock around it should be good to go.

Again, thank's very much for your advice.

I've used the campsite before and we simply stuck the anchors in the middle of the river and then put a line on the stern to the shore.

A weight half way up the anchor line will pull it back into the river once your off the boat.

Be careful about your bow anchor position as I don't really mean in the middle of the river......but you get the idea!

Alternatively you could rig a pulley on your anchor.
