At about 1100 today about 50 British flagged yachts left cherbourg and headed West
Anything to do with bretexit or have I missed something
Hope the alderny race washing machine is kinder to them than was my experience this morning
Have fun

I believe there's a thing called the ARC Channel Islands going on around now.

ARC stands for Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, and usually refers to a transatlantic crossing, so I'm a little bemused at the application of the name to a piddling summer cruise such as any of us might undertake without fanfare.

But I would guess that's what it was.

Thanks for the information
As for all the young children on those boats I'm glad I'm going The other way
I had a 2mtr washing machine through the race today
Hope the arc organisation flattens it a bit for them

We all have our own next challenge, and if you have never done it before it can seem daunting - and some people like the comfort of a crowd. Not for me, but I can see the attraction for some people.

I'm thinking more about the organisers than the participants. Just seems odd to run it under the ARC banner, which is about ocean sailing rather than jolly holidays. That branding would actually put me off taking part, which otherwise does have a certain appeal.

The same event run by a sailing club or the Cruising Association or a relevant commercial outfit like a magazine - or indeed our own Forum every September - wouldn't raise an eyebrow.
