Hello all, in case any of you are interested this is the letter that I've sent out to most of the local clubs -I'll, post the 'poster' on there as well later - so if anyone's wants to come, you're very welcome to attend our 60th Year Regatta.
We are holding our 60th year celebrations with a Regatta at St Pierre Pill on the 27th & 28th of June, with arrival on Friday 26th possible, if required. A warm and friendly welcome awaits you and your Club, whether you arrive by yacht or car (limited camping available).
During Saturday we will be holding the Commodore’s Cup Competition (a light-hearted sail, paddle or any method, excluding engines) in any ‘craft’ that floats, e.g. your tender, waterwings, a raft of made of fenders etc. around a course in the Pill, with a more formal event later in the day.
We will have a number of BBQs for you to cook your own food and cold drinks / salads etc on offer, with live music and entertainment on Saturday evening. For anyone who is lively enough on Sunday there will be a club cruise to Cardiff Bay with a return on Monday that is proving popular with our members. This will be a quiet, relaxed and informal weekend for people who enjoy the Bristol Channel to socialise in a very rural and tranquil location at our moorings.
We can raft around 15 yachts that can dry out across the Pill, with fin keelers up to about 4ft 6" draught (over 6’ has been accommodated) on a mooring in the deeper mud. We have pilotage instructions on our website (www.cdyc.co.uk), complete with a chartlet (not for navigation etc.). CDYC members will be present to help with your arrival.
I hope you and your club can make it, we can promise you that you will all have a great time. We would appreciate if you could indicate approximately how many craft/people will be attending.
Fair winds,
Reuben Howes.
