Chentleman\'s Cruise 2005

I have been instructed to inform the assembled readership of the following facts.
The 2005 Chentlemans Cruise will depart Kilmelford Pontoon on the morning of Friday 29th April, returning to this point in the late afternoon of Monday 2nd May.

The organising secretary would appreciate it if members wishing to embark kindly cleared their permissions with spouses before making rash and expensive promises.

There will be a pre-cruise dinner on the evening of Thursday 28th April commencing at approx. 1930 hrs aboard the good yacht Claymore - preceded by lashings of Blue Sapphire on the patio.

The passage plan has not yet been submitted to the relevant authorities but as High Water is at 09:35 on the morning of departure, there is a reasonable chance that the general direction may well be to the South - perhaps offering the opportunity to sample the fine malts of the Isles of Jura and Islay. Then again - we could get up a bit earlier and go North enabling us to get ratarsed in Tobers and have a wee blast oot tae see Tome's mither and help her get settled in.
Then again - ef we find we'e enjiyin whaursels - we cuid jes say fekit an dae baith

i am sorry but as someone who has been on many s*******l flotilla and bareboat briefings can i point out that such detailed passage planning is considered showing off by most other professional skippers
why next you'll be counting spoons and pointing to where the holding tank is

Re: Chentleman\'s Cruise 2005

Claysie,

As you know we failed to make the rendezvous for the 2004 chentleman's cruise.

This was due to an inability to row out to the mooring in the prevailing conditions that morning (wind, not hangover, honest . . .) - although we did enjoy a very pleasant if lonely run to Jura and Port Ellen later on.

We are now the proud posessors of an ootboard motor, purchased from a very nice person in the pub, so this is a problem that will not recur.

Myself and Mrs Webcraft will therefore be joining you for the cruise if you are agreeable. We would plan to join you at Kilmelford for the pre-cruise dinner on the Thursday night - will rafting up be in order and should we bring our own fenders?

I wil bring a bottle of malt if you promise to rig safety netting for the inter-ship transfer.

- Nick

Before I try and coax a weekend pass from SWMBO, can I first ascertain if there would be a berth available for a Chentleman from the North East?

The North East you say...
Noo wid that mean yer a Geordie or yin o they Aiberdonians as nae bugger can unnerston?
At the moment Claymore might appear tae be full but there could be a few more boats joining us - Webcraft is up for it and we'll see who else responds.
There's several people berth in the area so we'll give this a day or two to gather momentum.
I'd not be surprised if some o' they southern moneyed jessies didnae charter something - er hijack yin Mirabella there always crowing on aboot.

Although not a Gentleman or even Chentleman I regretfully have to send my apologies as will be on a dastardly dark deed in Yorkshire.... I am also unsure whether I'll or rather Seun will be in the water by then depends how waterproofing of her deck fittings go!

Well now my dear old thing
We were rather hoping to have you along - however, if you could get the waterproofing done and leave us the keys....?

Claymore
Can a newbie, also a geordie, come along with a translator in tow.
Moored just around the corner in Balvicar and it would be good to meet the authors of such erudite postings.

Re: Keys

But Seun doesn't have a patio thingy... and if there are any waves I'd need at least 2 bilge pumping hunks...

Message for Heartlander / Steve would advise that you build a conservatory onto your boat as this seems to be the accepted standard for such outings... Oh and stock up on mackrel from the supermarket as they seem to have a "thing" about failed fishing exercises.. Cauliflowers reportedly go down well too!

Welcome indeed my boy - before you set off can you make sure old Webcraft has dragged himself out of the pub, off the beach and onto his venerable craft?
More details to follow
