Checking the rig

There are several thousand things to check on a boat on a daily basis and that includes the split pins and rings that hold the bolts that hold the bottlescrews that hold the baby stays that hold up the mast. This was brought home to me this weekend as I saw one of the baby stays swinginging in the breeze. Lucky it wasn't the outer stay through the end of the spreader or I would have been in real trouble. Despite my profession I have decided to buy a new split pin. I may also look at all the others.

good idea.... I guess we should all check them more often than we do....
