Hi All,

We checked into TURKEY at Tasucu and it was FREE.

Now we want to know of places that we can Check OUT of turkey which will also be free. We realy do not want to pay any agency fees if we can avoid it.

Many Thanks

Peter

You should be able to check out free everywhere. You don't have to use an agent when checking out.

Regarding your checking in at Tasucu (where's that?) you said that it was free..does this mean that the transit log document was given to you gratis?

I wondered that. I was in Turkey last week and we had to get a transit log for the yacht and visas for all the crew. It all cost wonga.

Tasucu is opposit North Cyprus, where we came from. Yes we had to pay for the Visa and Transit log, but no agent was required.

Yes that's what I assumed.. well done you nevertheless!

You can do your own check out at Datca. However, you need to pay the Agent 20TL to print the paperwork. The Harbour Master will not accept anything other than printed check out paperwork.

Hi Albert,

Thanks for that. We are not sure how far we shall go along the coast but it looks like Datca would probably do us, what fees are payable to check out??

Fair winds

You don't need to pay anything when checking out.

The previous poster was conned. Anyone asking for a fee is at it.

The new harbour master at Datca can't or won't let you exit without an agent. He says it can't be done without a printed Y2 document. I know it should be possible, at least for boats under ten tonnes.

He phoned up the old harbour master for us in the end, who came out in his car to sort it out. He eventually allowed us to exit for free, partly because he had told us last time that we could, but he was not happy about it and said it was absolutely the last time.

That's interesting, thanks for that information. When did this take place? (new harbourmaster) We will bear it in mind for future ref.

I still think it is a con though!!!!

Good evening;

I believe the need to use an agent arose when the authorities decided they wanted all transit logs registered in a central data base instead of being piled up in various offices throughout the country and this required them to be registered on line via the internet.

I heard and half believe that the on-line form included a space for ID numbers which would only accept a number similar to that on Turkish ID cards and would not accept anything like passport numbers etc resulting in the need to engage an agent to complete the on-line form. Of course, it wouldn't be possible to expect the over worked officials we have all encountered to take on this onerous and difficult task.

As I have reported elsewhere there is a move afoot to change this but authorization is being held up by the Dept of Finance or other government office.

If all transit logs are registered in a central data base it makes sense that they must be removed when the yachtsman is clearing out of Turkey which I believe would involve more on-line work which probably means another agent or some kind soul who is prepared to go on line and cancel it.

Cheers

We were there the third week of June. He was fairly new to the job and used mainly to dealing with shipping. We were the first yacht who had approached him to exit without an agent. He was certainly trying to be helpful but simply didn't believe it can be done.

The problem seems to be that the computer system doesn't generate the Y2 exit page when you buy the log (in case the crew changes). The agent could generate the Y2 but the harbour master couldn't. He wasn't conning us. He would not have bothered to call out the old harbour master otherwise.

I hope the rumours of an online system we can access ourselves come true. I can see we are a nuisance to the harbour offices, and it would be better for everyone except the agents if we could do it ourselves.
