I'm after a wee favour!

There is potential boat that I may be interested in, located in Tarbert. Before I sink hundreds and hundreds into travel costs, I was wondering if there might be someone local who has 20 minutes free over the next few days to just swing by and "kick tyres" and just confirm if she matches what is shown in the pictures etc.

Obviously i'll come up and look and if ok have a survey / sea trial so no come back on anyone that does so, just not keen to potentially waste next weekend if they are 10 year old pictures and the boat is basically a project.

Drop me a PM if you can assist.

I had a similar quandary with a boat in Wales so sent an email to the (private) seller letting them know I was very interested and could they answer some questions before I travelled a long way to view. Asked when the pictures were taken, was there anything that needed attention/fixing/replacement before the boat was launched, plus a few other very specific questions, can't remember exactly what they were now. The seller sent me a long and detailed reply, encouraging in itself, at the end he said don't forget she's fifty years old but enough reassurance that she was a cared for boat that was worth travelling a long way to go have a look at, which I did and also bought the boat. Worth a try if you can't get anybody to go have a look...(y)

As above I phoned and ask a motorboat seller to confirm the condition as I was coming a long way, 3 hours each way, seller reassured me it was in good nick sounded like a gent on the phone, got there to find its back had been broken as though it had been dropped from a crane, very obvious break along the keel, only visible by laying on the floor so there was a chance someone might not but really a slim one. The guy sensibly kept his distance while I looked the boat over, standing behind a rail so he'd have a better chance if i flew at him. Obvious moral of the story.
