I've realised it's probably better to just buy a 30m reel of red and one black of 6mm oceanflex. Does the panel have any thoughts on the cheapest place to buy this in the UK? 12VPlanet is £56.35 while furneauxriddall is £40.49. That's quite a difference so naturally I'm wondering if there's somewhere even cheaper!

Thanks, seems to be slightly more than Furneaux so I'm starting to think they may be the cheapest option.

As far as i know, they are.

Do you have need for two 30m rolls of 6mm ? It would be perfectly acceptable to use black for both cables and put a short piece of red heat shrink on each end of the positive cable.

Just had another look and only some of the listing for the company I recommended actually state Oceanflex. The 6mm doesn't so it might be another brand not Oceanflex.

With the number of projects I've done and have left to do it just seems time to get a couple of reels in. I'm not a fan of losing the colour coding, and against the cost of components (2 plotters, A/P, radar, VHF, solar....) a couple of reels isn't going to be the thing that breaks the bank. I ended up buying 100m of solar cable as it was cheaper than buying bits and bobs, and I think I have 50m of outdoor Ethernet cable too, ready to connect helm and mast top router to the switch. I now have a few solar extension cables of different lengths which is handy, and still a bunch of spare cable in case needs change. 6mm seems to be a good size as it'll handle most "big" or long loads on the boat while also being small enough not to be silly for smaller jobs. I do have some thinner cable on the boat for the really small loads though.

Now ordered from Furneaux. I hadn't even realised they were Portsmouth based, that makes life much easier when looking for electrical boaty stuff!
