I'd like to fit an in-hull depth sender that puts out NMEA sentences - what's the cheapest way of doing this? If there was a cheap complete unit including control head that would be fine, but it seems none of the NASA kit does it and the starting price for NMEA enables depth sets are over £150.

Any suggestions?

See if you can find an older Autohelm / Raymarine ST5000 depth plus Tri data. The Tru data converts the Seatalk to NMEA0183. Note the later ST 6000 doesn't do this.

I pick up depth and water speed onto my garmin GPSMAP 750 from the triads with no other converter in between.

Thanks - I should have said that I want it to show depth data on Seatalk (i have a NMEA to Seatalk converter via the S3G) but assumed that Raymarine wouldn't be cheap - didn't think of old Autohelm stuff.
