Just doing research on next area for cruising. The marinas I have been in touch with so far are pretty expensive. Any suggestions for not so expensive ones? Eastern Greece or Turkey. We usually do May/June anchoring, come home for 2 months (leaving boat afloat or ashore) then back to 2 months anchoring. Then find somewhere for the winter.

Try Samos (Pythagorion).
Or Evia. All the harbours there are owned by Olne. The harbours in Chalkida and Nea Artraki have lazylines. There are also quite a few boatyards on Evia that are not expensive.
Alternatively: Mytilini, Lesbos (owned by Setur) if you do a annual contract you can stay 30 days for free in all Setur Marinas. They have around 10 marinas in Turkey.

I stayed for a while at Oren marina (Turkey) about 50 miles east of Bodrum. A well-found modern marina, though with limited facilities. But very much cheaper than the not so distant Kos marina (Greece), and with a direct bus service to Bodrum-Milas international airport an hour away. I might have seriously considered it as a long term base.

We have had several years based out of Port Iasos marina, North of Bodrum. Lovely surroundings and very cost effective, but you would have to go to Didim or Turgutreis for boatyard stuff.

Many thanks for the comments - very useful. The Setur marinas seem to be a good option with the ability to move around and Finike seemed to be ideal for us, but they are full and have a waiting list. I've been looking at Setur option in Lesbos which has advantages now of being able to commute between the two 90 day restrictions. Anyone have anything negative to say about it?

Any update on this topic? I have just ordered a Beneteau Oceanis 30.1 - a fairly small boat (LOA 9.53m x 2.99m beam) - which I want to base in the Dodecanese or SW Turkey next year. The marinas I have contacted to far either have said they have no long-term moorings (I asked for an annual contract) or quote extortionate rates, GBP £600+ per month.

I am tempted to use a public harbour in Greece as my base instead.

Any insights much appreciated.

dgadee, many thanks for the suggestion. I have made an enquiry to Mytileni marina.
They say, "In case we couldn’t lift your boat at base marina, free lift and dry dock up to 3 months at capable Setur Marina." Mytilini has no lift, so it may be that you can locate it elsewhere for 3 months at no cost.

If you're looking for affordable marinas in Eastern Greece or Turkey, try Göcek or Marmaris in Turkey. I’ve found them to be more budget-friendly and they have solid facilities. For winter, Bodrum or Antalya are great options—they offer good rates and protection. I’ve anchored in those spots and had a good experience.
I'll be shocked if he finds any cheap rates in Göcek or Marmaris.

Alanya Marina used to cost less than the chains - its independent. Has advantages but we left due to the noise at night from 2 open discos on the site. That may have changed.
