I am going to use my boat to take disabled childern and adults sailing, and therefore need to purchase about 8 sets of oilies for them to use. They are probably of generally adult sizes, and it would be best of the trousers could be salopetts.

Any ideas of cost-effective suppliers would be gratefully received.

Would make a special request to;

www.allgadgets.co.uk have a cheap brand
www.musto.co.uk - they do clearance lines and have a factory shop
Compass - on this site have a cheap set

Last year Gill did a full suit, think it was called the Latitude, great value at £99.

Helly Hansen have a factory shop or two.

Try the RYA as well, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

On a similar vein, Has anyone any long term feed back on the Compass range of water proofs? Need to replace mine and can't help wondering whether the difference in price between Compass's Proffesional 3000 range and other 'better' brands is much more to do with the name than an actual difference in the quality of the garment, also how good the Compass Pro Tech range, they scored well in Sailing today it seems. Thanks in advance. Mike

Any sea-angling locally? Try a bait shop in a fishing port, they generally supply (or can tell you where to get) not very elegant but serviceable cheap yellow waterproofs.

Is this a one-off for charity? Try your local yacht club. Many yachties keep an old spare set that I'm sure they would be prepared to loan you.

What about normal workmans waterproofs like used by road menders council staff etc?
I've got a set look crap but actually good at keeping rain out and were abut a tenner.

Guy Cotten do some very low cost, but good, yellow waterproofs. I bought a pair of their trousers many years ago, they were well used for sailing and I still have them for dirty jobs in boatyard or dried out. They are listed on http://www.go2marine.com/frameset.jsp?servletPath=/g2m&action=GoBPage&id=55677F at some very low prices in dollars.
