Cheap tenders

I want to buy a polyethylene type tender. I have looked at the Walker Bay 8 and 10 and Watertender 9.4. The Watertender would be my preferred tender as it is rated to take a 5hp outboard, which is what I have. What is frustrating is that the US price for the 9.4 is $449.00
whereas the best UK price that I can get is £550.00 . I know the exchange rate is good at the moment but these prices are ridiculously out of synch, even if you factor the shipping costs in. This seems to run across the board for PWC - US prices are at least half of what you pay here. Anyone know of a good deal in the UK? I could get something second hand but I can't seem to find anything stable (I have small children) and lightweight (roofrackable). I've been looking for a few months.

Have a look at http://www.robincurnow.co.uk/special_offers/index.html and the Terhi Baby Fun. I know there is one in there for sale. Phone them to see what he would take for it.

They also had the Terhi 385 for sale (now sold), but I know they can get one at short notice.

Nationwide boat sales sell new Bic 252 tenders which I think are made of polyehtylene, in my terms they are some sort of plastic. A pal of mine has one and they are unbelievably stable. They cost £350 incl oars I think. Click on
http://www.nationwideboatsales.co.uk and go to used boats (even though these are new), then boatyard sales, and then dinghies.
Hope this helps. Paul

Had you thought about a PR300?

The Plastimo PR300 is about the same size as the WaterTender 9.4 and has the additional feature of a built-in wheel to make trips across the beach easier. It weighs a few pounds more (135 vs 106), but otherwise might suit your needs. Around £500 new, or there's one not too far from you for £350 (see here for details).

Re: Had you thought about a PR300?

Thanks for all your help. I will enquire about the Plastimo boat. I am also waiting to hear if a Watertender can be shipped at a reasonable price in a mixed container bound for the Uk. At £245.00 from the US, it will be worth paying the duty if it can be shipped for around £100.00.
