I planned to replace all my messenger lines and lazy jack lines this winter so I have been looking for a source of small diameter line that doesnt cost the earth.
Finally whilst looking at e bay I came up with starter cord-the stuff used on lawnmowers ,chain saws etc.-a 100 metre reel of 4mm prestretched red fleck multiplait nylon-really tough stuff for just over £13-anything from 3 to 6 mm in 0.5 mm increments.
It will be also used for various tie downs and securing sail tidies etc.

Sounds like a good deal. I can't really see how nylon can be pre-stretched as its famous for stretching, though. I've always bought polypropylene line from the builders merchants for messengers as they're only temporary, but lazy jacks must suffer from constant UV degradations. Do you have a more specific hint how to track this stuff down?

Oh well will keep you posted but then again not too much sun up here in highlands and all previous stuff has tended to wear out very quickly.
Starter cord is on e bay -just search for it.
