Cheap Radar

I have googled and searched the YBW chandlers but can't come up with many small boat radar and certainly none at very 'affordable' prices... Anybody recommend a particular inexpensive/cheap radar?

Furuno 1623 - should be able to get it for around 750 quid.
Very impressed with it on last boat - will buy again.

Yes the FURUNO is a nice set, bought mine in La Coruna last year, it cost 1700euros, I saw all the splurge about offers on line but when I rang a few companies they had non in stock and it could be months, "just can,t get hold of them".

I often wonder what people do with their existing radar sets if they decide to upgrade to a radar/plotter etc. Do firms like Cactus or other electrical goodies suppliers or fitters like Hudson have or know of second hand units for sale? Michael Is that a path you have considered? Then there all the boat jumbles. You might find a real bargain there. Happy hunting.

Very pleased with my Furuno 1623 as well.

JRC 1000 or 1500 the other obvious choice for budget Radar. No personal experience of these but I understand they have the advantage of a smaller scanner unit than the Furuno at the expense of a wider beamwidth.

I have the JRC 1000 and it is good for the money. You can buy for £675.

In France there are not too many boat jumbles - they do have 2nd hand shops but the deal is a bit dodgy.... I agree there must be some 2nd hand radar heads around but finding them is not easy...

675 is a good price! Where was that please?
