Hi all, I'm thinking of buying another yacht or taking my present on down to the med with the intention of leaving it there. It would be used for holidays & possibly friend/relative. I have no where in mind at the moment, could anyone suggest places that are reasonably accessable which don't cost too much?

It\'s really an Oxymoron

Because, especially in July and August, there are no such things as cheap moorings in the Med.

Most places, in the Western Med, have a 2 - 3 waiting list, however I'd suggest trying on the Atlantic coast first, before bashing your head against the Spanish wall of non-committment.

Try the following:-

Atlantic coast

Lagos - cheap flights to Faro.
Isla Christina
Chipiona
Rota
Cadiz - usually room here
Gelves - up the Guadalquivir near Sevilla (don't be there in the summer it's over 38C)

W Med

Estepona - Malaga flights
Almerimar
Cartagena
Palamos - Barcelona

Forget about Barcelona, not only pricey but lots of petty crime and unbelieveably long waiting lists.

Most of the Roussillon ports are full during the summer, but you could try
Argeles - Perpignan
Canet Plage
Port Camargue

If you phone/write/fax you'll be invited to join the waiting list - possession being 9/10 of the law, you need to turn up and park and then argue about whether or not you can stay

Wutcha :) (Non-sailing related post)

It was a long time ago - and my cost engine has STILL not been copied.

For those of you in the dark, (and you all will be) it was Trevor who discovered how to create macros on Visicalc ... and from that came Excel.
