Nice clinker built Scandernavian Folkboat just come on the market up here, Brand new Yanmar diesel inboard with equally new outboard aux' (Would guess at less than 20 hrs between them) new roller furling jib, she looks pretty sound and the owner has bought bigger so wants rid pretty quick, He's asking for less than 4K but to be honest I think he'll take any reasonable offer. Nice little starter boat for someone methinks. Mick.

Just for your information. A "folkboat" with an inboard engine is not a folkboat because it does not comply to the class rules. Such boats are usually called "converted folkboats".

Of course the distinction is really only of interest when you plan to race the boat.

I agree, but over here most 'Folk Boats' are fitted with inboards and appear in a number of guises and methods of construction, This one has the short, low level cabin top and apart from the inboard engine looks most like the origonal. To list her as a "converted Folk Boat" would, over here at least serve only to confuse people. regards, Mike.

Strictly speaking, she's a British Folkboat, and will (or at least should) carry FB on her sails. The proper Folkboats are refered to as scandinavian Folkboats over here, and just have an F on the sails. The two types are allowed to race on equal terms by the British Folkboat association.

Only if they are Swedish as the "S" stands for Sweden. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

However if it's a real folkboat it has the F alone, if the F is inside a circle it's not a Nordic folkboat, but an IF.
