having had fan heaters etc. - I decided that I wanted convection ... fed up with the fan sound !

So along with Jim - bought a Dimplex Coldwatch 500W job ... excellent machine. Has frost settings and thermostat .... was more than enough to warm up my 25ft boat. About £40 online ... or £49.99 inj Chandlers.

When recently in B&Q .... noticed some small 200W Frost protector convector heaters .... £9.99 each .... and small ! Grabbed a couple and I am impressed with them ... small enough to screw to loo bulkhead .... small enough to mount under steps into cabin ... fitted with thermostat and variable settings etc.

So now boat sitting on blocks is warm as toast inside and ready for Latvian winters worst !!

OK the above are all 240V and dependent on marina / shore power ..... but for the price and comfort ....

I bought one of those Dimplex Coldwatch 500w heaters over 20 years ago (the same model as sold now) for use in a caravan, and it is still going strong. I hope your new one is as well made. SWMBO bought a 700w oil filled radiator from a DIY store for use in a hallway. It failed in less than a year, and she got a refund. I wonder if the replacement will do any better.

I only have one complaint ..... like most things they have plastic knobs etc. I stepped down into cabin and caught the control knob - which snapped off. The spindle when it snapped unfortunately cracked the ceramic rheostat ... so had to be replaced .... same day service by Dimplex Engr on Hayling Island ..... £20.

But it's a very good piece of kit .... and for 39.99 online ......... even 49.99 at chandlers etc. - I think its worth it ....
