Just bought one of these for my boat...
It may be an option for others also, so thought I would share the info.

It is 2m x 3m. I have the 2 metre suspended under the boom between the aft end of the boom and where my mainsheets attach on the coachroof. It comes with 6 snap hooks which I have attached to the guard wires; the forward and aft ones have short lengths of cord attached to take them back to the pulpit and mid stanchion in order to tension the tent fore and aft. It comes with 15m of white cord also...

Nice!!! Thanks for posting :)

We did similar on our previous boat and it was very successful. Initially we used an off-the-shelf sheet like this one, but then decided that we needed bigger and we made our own from Sunbrella run up on the sewing machine.

Does it seem shower proof? It could be the right thing for my boat too if so

Yes, it appears so, as no sooner had I draped it over the cord under the boom, the heavens then opened and I was glad of the shelter! It probably only covers half of my cockpit due to where the boom ends, but it does cover most of the main hatch, so it will allow that to be left open in the showers.

I bought a £30 ebay RIB cover before the winter, I think that could easily be modified.
You couldn't buy the fabric at the price.

That was my thinking behind buying this... I had originally intended making something up from material and eyelets.

The material this 'canopy' is made from is a good bit heavier than a tent flysheet, and has 8 nylon strapping loops stitched into it, 2 I have used at fore and aft of the ridge (with an extra piece of cord led forward to the kicker boom attachment so that I can use that as a sort of outhaul, then another 3 on either side of the boat which attach to the guard wires. It's also white, so no gloomy area underneath once it's up...
