I'd sell any mapping device for the sake of something which gave good guidance and intelligent conversation....

Makes you wonder what you asked really.
The biggest problem you might encounter is the cell may be soldered in place, can you solder? The other may be having to unplug ribbon cables when you need to ease the casing apart. This needs care and a gentle touch.
You should be able to do it if you are 'handy', I would suggest doing it on a clear table with plenty of light, try not to drop any screws.
I hope you have better luck than I had with my Navman. I took it apart easy enough. Identified the battery, discovered the same battery at Maplins for less than £2.
Great I thought /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Then I realised that the battery in the plotter had lugs soldered on and it was hard wired onto the board. The battery from Maplin did not have any lugs and was designed for a push fit. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I recognise that this solution provides a better more robust solution. However 6 weeks away and a bill for over £50 was really taking the pee. Especially as most of these plotter batteries only last 5 years.

And like the old trick ...
Exam paper put in front of candidates ... with 10 questions / sections on ... Top of paper says read all before starting.
Questions go on ... till #9 where it says if you have got this far ... put your hand up. So nearly all candidates put hand up ... #10 says ignore all questions / sections above.
