I'm considering a yacht charter in Mallorca or Ibiza/Formentera mid September for a week. My concern is that it will be crowded out. Does anyone have experience of chartering in this region and can they recomend places to visit that will give a chance to relax.

Having my own boat here, in Mallorca, I have no experience of chartering. I have heard, yesterday, that some (the other will certainly follow suit!) charter companies considering a very bad season start here in the Balearics, cut theyre prices by nearly 50%!
May be worth mentionning before making a reservation!
Of course, the Balearics are crowded, but, September, specially the 2nd half is much better than July - August.
I posted a message on the Scuttlebut forum last week under "Mallorca & ????" regarding the anchoring places.
Have look there.
Pls., feel free to PM me, if you have questions.
Welcome to the Balearics.

I chartered there last year.
We headed to Ibiza and Formentera, going right round Ibiza. There were plenty of anchorages on the Southwest of Mallorca and the South of Ibiza and Formentera. we anchored mostly but did stop in Ibiza town to look at the super yachts and reprovision. Formentera was beautiful.

The range on Ibiza was from the quite noisy to the v quiet so there was plenty of scope as our party was quite mixed and some wanted to go ashore and do the clubs scene.
We went the6 june for a fortnight and it never got too busy. altho July and August does get v busy the locals said.
We were on a Cat from Palma with Sunsail. There were plenty of other companies there. Moorings had a big fleet.

If I did it again, and i will, i would head East to Porto Pollensa and round to Menorca one of the party did that trip this May and set it was brill.

Only major lesson was check the holding. the wind can get up at night and one night we were in a bay and everyone dragged. fortunately our draft allowed us in front of all the mayhem. We got out into open water and wind had died.

if you want more infor feel free to email me.

If it Cooks Flys or Floats, Rent it.

Many thanks for the information.

I've found your comments most helpful.

I'll definitely go ahead and sort a charter out from Formentera.
