Hello, I am writing from the US and would like to contact a Vertue owner in the UK to arrange a bareboat charter for a Laurent Giles Vertue for a week or 10 days in Mid August, for some local coastal cruising in the UK.

My wife and daughter in law will be hiking across England on the Coast to Coast trail during that time, and as my trekking days are done, would like to charter a Vertue for some day sailing and coastal cruising while they are out walking.

I can provide references and details of my 45 years sailing and commercial fishing experience in the North Pacific, and would be happy to qualify my boat handling skills as needed.

Thanks very much for assistance you might be able to offer.

Maybe trying on YM Scuttlebutt will get you more responses.

However the big stumbling block you'll face is that in the UK charter boats have to be MCA (i.e. coastguard) coded (including being surveyed to a certain set of requirements). Most private boats aren't. They quite strict about clamping down on owners who break the rules. There is a loophole with race boats but you would need to be genuinely involved in an organised race to avail of that.

Hi Glenn
My Vertue will be hauled out for repairs in May (cracked ribs).
Should be back in the water by June.
I don't charter it but would be happy to sail with you for that period.
See my post for crew above.
Regards
Andrew
