Charter in Caribbean

SWMBO has always fancied a holiday in the Caribbean as have I. We came close when playing the Time Share - Free Holiday game but ended up in Thailand!

As a keen fan of "Death in Paradise" she fancies Guadeloupe. The brochures suggest prices around £5000 for a ten day stay. As a fully paid up homophobic, the stories I have read about beach practice have made me uncomfortable. I also fear lying on a beach, bit of snorkelling (probably too old for scuba now) and digestive problems following too many nights in the bar and the mixed Trip Advisor reviews are putting me off.

As a brilliant inspiration, I am teetering on the brink of suggesting a charter.

Any recommendations please?

I like Guadaloupe. Very French, unlike the series. A few charter companies run out of the big marina on the south east bit.

Round to the west side you will find the Cousteau underwater park, loadsa local dive shops to make it stress free. Near the top there is a fab anchorage at Deshais. Lots of the series was filmed there, big points earner!

For a bit of a sail, still not long, The Saints are a small group of islands to the south. Very close to paradise.

You might find it cheaper to charter a boat stock up it and go to an anchorage with a sand beech and stay there, if you want to. Cheapest charters are: www.latesail.com Death in Paradise is filmed in Deshaies which now has buoys.

Personally, I really have no idea whether he's horrible or not .... primarily because I've no idea what he going on about.

I have read disturbing reviews referencing homosexual practices and advances on beaches. I do not wish to be anywhere near that. Is that horrible?

I meant to mention Deshaies is the northernmost bay and north of the marina.
