Chart plotting software part 2...

Thanks to those who contributed to my earlier post. Have now got GPS connection and CMAP reader organised. Last eveing I downloaded Software on Board. Looks excellent but I am baffled by one thing. So far I have not connected anything but SOB gives detailed world chart EXCEPT around the UK! Why is this? Presumably, when I connect the chart reader with the relevant cahrt presumably this problem will go away. Does this mean that I don't need to buy chart of (for example) the French coast which seems to be on SOB already.

The built in charts in SOB have a few areas where they show full detail to harbour level so that you can get a feel for the look and operation of the software before purchasing.

OK. So if I'm going to an area that SOB shows in sufficient detail, then I don't need to buy the CMAP chart for that area?? Is that it?

Could you be sure the chart was up to date. I doubt if SOB guarantee their accuracy.
