My Simrad CP 40 (year 2000) needs replacing on my Nimbus 345 my radar works OK. any ideas for replacement, I have been offered Furuno but its quite costly...up to £ 3k

What Radar do you have and is it interfaced to the chart plotter?
The CP40 is quite a small unit from what I remember?

I seem to remember, contrary to above, the unit on your Nimbus is quite a large screen and you had main and slave, rather unnecessarily in my mind.
A nice clear screen.
I assume you have tried to have it repaired?
I had a Simrad vhf repaired by the UK agents some years ago and the cost was very modest.
If terminal, try a visit to SIBS and negotiate.

If you want to reuse your C-Map cartridges and want a similar size screen to the CP40 (>10") you could look at Simrad Navstation NX45 (around £2000) or Standard Horizon CPV 550 12" WIDE SCREEN GPS CHART PLOTTER + CLASS D VHF_combo. (£1700) or wait for the raymarine E series wide which will support C-Map (but check your old chart will work with the new)
Its a dealer question about simrad radar compatability. Good luck
