Chart Plotter

I have been offered a Magellan Nav 6510 from a friend who is upgrading to a Simrad 33 to get better daylight visibility. (He is also going to let me have his old forward looking sonar (Echo Pilot silver) as he will get a fishfinder with the Chartplotter.)

One of us will have to purchase new c map cartidges if he can reuse his existing ones in the new plotter. Can the existing ones be updated?

Any advice ?

yes up-grade easy
take the cartridge to a main raytheon stockist, cost about £30

........and, if you so want, the area of the cartridge can also be changed for the same price.

The only drawback is that some cartridges (NT and not +) are 3mb and some 4mb. C-Map themselves will exchange a smaller size for an upgrade to a bigger one.
