Charles de Gaulle airport NB

Am off to CDG on Friday arriving Terminal 1 at 18:10 and hoping to catch a TGV at 19:25 from CDG TGV station at Terminal 2. Have any of you experience of this? I'd be interested in just how long it will take from t1 to t2 via the shuttle bus.

usually there are buses every 10, 15min, and it takes 10, 15min at most from T1 to T2 (depending which of the five T2 terminals the bus goes first to)

yeah, i've got experience of going to one terminal which i think may have been the air france terminal, and realising that it must be at the other terminal, but there were no buses, so i walked, then ran, then missed the plane which had set off a while earlier cos the sodding clocks had gone back an hour.

I've done it more times than I care to mention , although I actually catch the RER from the same location as the TGV. It has never taken me more than 20 minutes - including waiting for the navette when I am at the bus stop in T1. At that time on a Friday there will be traffic but nothing that will not move in 5 minutes more. Your BIGGESt issue will probably be ....finding the Navette stop at T1. I can't even begin to explain how to find it so..

As you are probably flying with BMI into terminal 1 get one of their CDG ground staff to give you PRECISE instructions , I can't even remember which door you exit. Just know it when I'm there. Get it right and it's only 2 minutes from Customs ..

In NO CIRCUMSTANCE panic and try and walk it . You have more chance walking from T1 to T4 at Heathrow.

Re: talking buses

this is good advice. I think they have a few more meeters and greeters these days to point you in the right direction. Sadly, the buses don't talk any more, like they used to do in a "Watch With Mother" style - it's all on LCD.

Got It !

Having re-read this five times I have now understood !

I meant the doors in the Terminal ! You know 'cos T1 at CDG is the roundy, roundy one where peeps have been lost for weeks just looking for the exit door marked " Granny is outside here''. which would be a whole lot more useful than having seven which say 'Taxis - Get Ripped off Here'. Think there are 30-ish exit doors??

Of course , I may also have tried to exit the wrong door of the bendy buses , but only under the influence of alcohol. Also I think you will find that "Regardez avec Maman'' is now banned in France 'cos Rag , Tag and Bobtail are protected species under EC law. Consequently they have all been shot , 'La Chassse' still being allowed in france , as long as you don't shoot Frenchmen.

Thanks for this I'm encouraged, I thought that we might be a bit tight on time. You're right I am coming in on BMI and I'll ask the groundstaff, I've downloaded the map of T1 so I know in theory where I'm aiming at, but it's always good to have it confirmed.

On my previous two flights into terminal three, (the cheap terminal), the biggest issue was getting a ticket when you get to terminal 2
Take around 8 euros in change with you to get your paris ticket promtly.
Notes are no good, credit cards may or may not be accepted and the queue for the ticket desk was almost back to the terminal building

If you get a TGV ticket back to CDG like the one I had it's a big paper one like an airline ticket.

There are automatic barriers off the platforms & they accept only small cardboard tickets with a magnetic stripe. There's generally no-one around so you'll be stuck.

Just jump over the barrier. If you're stopped, you have a valid ticket and can moan about the gates.

Ah, theres a way round that too. Go to the travel office beside the ticket office and explain and they'll sell you a pass for €1

Trip update

Thanks to everybody that provided advice and guidance. We had a good time in France but no thanks to the travel arrangements.

1. Plane took off 50 mins late so missed TGV, went to Gare de Lyons and managed to miss last TGV so trooped over to Gare D'Austelitz to get night train to Dijon arriving at 0230 five hours later than planned.

2. Wandered around the beautiful countryside for a day and a half including a trip tp Beune where did a tour of 4 acres of wine caves (and that was just one of several dealers!)

3. Left Dijon 1300 on Sunday arrived Lymington 2200 following well over an hour wasted fooling around with Purple Parking's bussing arrangements PP will not be getting my custom again.

4. Impressed with bmi £15 each way LHR/CDG with booze and food plus exec lounges either end 'cos I'm an Amex card holder. Reckon that I ate and drank my £15 before getting on the plane.

Conclusion, Dijon is a lovely neck of the woods but just too damn far for a weekend.
