Channel Islands later this week....

Hi All,

Thinking of heading down to the Channel Islands on Thursday back Sunday. Probably Guernsey. Anyone else heading that way from the Solent..cruising speed 12kts..or any views on likely weather? Boat is Trader 50 so pretty bullet proof..but family not keen on prolonged wash cycle.

The sea state forecast from 6pm Wed until 6pm Thursday is "Rough becoming moderate". Given the current gales and forecasts on Windguru, I think it will take a while for the sea to calm down.

Looks doable , friday better than sat from a wind point of view.

I use both windguru and xc and compare with local forecast for 24 and 48 hr.

I use xcweather and the wind looks as though it is calming down over Thursday, although that is relative. However, looks as though majority of Low has gone through with a High filling in behind it albeit slowly.

. What is local guernsey view on weather Thursday thru Sunday? If we make it on Thursday we might get up to Alderney or Cherbourg on Saturday and then jump across from there.

Are you guys expecting a High to kick in over the weekend?

We are in Jersey at the moment. This morning it was blowing a force 8 but it has dropped to a 5/6 at the moment. I think you should give the CI a miss this week!
