Off on my summer cruise starting from Jersey on July 4th my plan is

Day 1 Jersey –Sark
Day 2 Sark – Carteret
Day 3 lay day
Day 4 Carteret- Alderney
Day 5 Alderney- Portsmouth.

My first day July 4th is spring tides and I reckon I have factored in the tides, but to catch good tide up to Sark I will arrive at or near low water also to get from Sark to Carteret on day two will have to leave close to low water.

I have done the Alderney race a few times but not been further South than Guernsey so would greatly appreciate any comments positive or negative, all plans are of course subject to weather

Thanks

I leave Guernsey as soon as the depth over the sill allows and get into Carteret before the sill lifts so Sark to Carteret should give you no problems leaving Sark around LW to arrive close to HW at Carteret as long as you do not dawdle.
Watch the varying cross dift around the rocks as the tide swooshes through the Erchous.

Carteret is a great little port, but not to enter if its blowing hard from the SW. Also I have never got alongside as its very popular and you have to raft up. Visitors is far pontoon. Sill stays down for a surprising time, I have gone up the harbour with the old ferry to Gorey high and dry, indeed its at most confusing at HW when the south training bank is covered.

Good grub and the church is worth a visit around the back streets.

Carteret - Alderney is also no problem if you think you have missed the race just pop into Dilette.

enjoy

I moored on a pontoon at Carteret 2 weeks ago, if you arrive on a weekday its best. Very nice place, we ate at Hotel des Ormes on the way to the village, expensive but excellent. The market at Barneville on Saturday is great, the village of Tot on the way to Barneville is lovely. You can walk up to Cap de Carteret.
