I have the Jabsco electric conversion flush pumps fitted on OB's loos. These have an upper impellor for the water coming in, and a lower impellor with chopper / macerator to dispose of the nasty.

There is also a feeder tube rising from the lower impellor to the upper. I assume this is to keep the upper pump wet when pumping out.

I would like to convert to fresh water flush, and figure I need a separate 12v solenoid to control the water direct into the bowl.

I therefore plan to dismantle the upper pump and remove the impellor, and cap off the feeder tube from bottom to top, this should render the pump unit as 'pump out' only.

1 Anyone done this ?
2 Do I need a check valve on the fresh water feed to stop any chance of backflow ?
