The South cooling towers of Didcot A power station are to be demolished by explosion on Sunday 27th of this month.

The stack will be gone by the autumn.

Things will look a little different after......................

I understand it is 6am now to allow people to see it.
Seem to have been looking at them nearly all my life so it will be strange when they are gone, but I certainly won't miss them they always
ruin the bit of river between Days and Abingdon as they are constantly in view.

I know there was a call to delay it so people could watch, but AFIK it's still set to go ahead before dawn (whatever time that is)

Yes can't find any confirmation of a change, although it says between 3am and 5am, will it fall down that slowly

They'll blow one tower every 20 mins, just to make sure everyone stays awake

In some ways 'tis sad -
As we progress from Day's to Culham, I wonder why the Towers keep moving.....
A reminder of how the River meanders through its' flood plane. With them gone there'll be nowt on which to focus.

Never mind, in due course there will be an huge conurbation of house on stilts to satisfy the demand for cheap housing....

The old concrete works by Woodstock had the leave the chimney up as it was apparently an aviation landmark
