Change of Career to Marine Industry

I am in the IT Industry, currently working in an engineering firm. I am looking to move my direction to the marine industry. Does anyone have any information such as the best place to look and the type of path to go down.

Can't really help without more info on what field in the marine industry you want to follow.

But here's a list for starters...
how about the RYA
or try the marine colleges, e.g. Lairdside marine center (Liverpool), Warsash maritime center(Southampton), South Tyneside college.
or the MCA,

If you are into IT then there's always the manufacturers of electronic equipment.
Everything seems to be PC based these days, certainly for the big stuff.

Most big shipping companies have IT departments, pick up a copy of Lloyds list at your local library.
