Change of boat name

Don't forget to notify Neptune / Poseidon.
The usual form is to remove all traces of the boat name then make a short plea to Poseidon to forget the old name " Oh mighty and great ruler of the seas, we beseech to to expunge from your record ....." or simlar. Followed by a copious quantiy of champagne being given to the sea with the remainder shared by the crew. Renaming to follow immediately with more champagne and beseeching. Of course, Poseidon may be more forgiving of you returning to the original name but, to be honest, it isn't worth the risk.
Copious? A few capfuls was sufficient! Good champers to the oggin!

We renamed shortly after purchase, even under part 1 registry it was quite a simple process.
We did hear that to appease Neptune it was advisable to find a Virgin to p** over the bow. All the better if she's called Mary.

Aswell as the below text just got to add a supplication to the four winds (according to the myths) - just to complicate matters the Captain says she don't like Syringa and asked me to look up Latin for playful which is "lasciva" don't fancy shouting that down the VHF to the coastguard! :) I like Enlli - Welsh for "in the currents" AKA Bardsey Isle..

In the name of all who have sailed aboard this ship in the past, and in the name of all who may sail aboard her in the future, we invoke the ancient gods of the wind and the sea to favour us with their blessing today.
"We offer you our thanks for the protection you have afforded this vessel in the past. We voice our gratitude that she has always found shelter from storm and enjoyed safe passage to port.
"Now, wherefore, we submit this supplication, that the name whereby this vessel has been known Prime Suspect be struck and removed from your records
"Further, we ask that when she is again presented for blessing with another name, she shall be recognized and shall be accorded once again the selfsame privileges she previously enjoyed.
"In return for which, we rededicate this vessel to your domain in full knowledge that she shall be subject as always to the immutable laws of the gods of the wind and the sea.
"In consequence whereof, and in good faith, we seal this pact with a libation offering according to the hallowed ritual of the sea.
