The 4 chandlers I knew in central London all seem to have gone out of business:

Force 4 near Victoria Station
LYC near Liverpool St station
Telesonic in Brunswick Centre
Pumpkin down beyond the Tower of London (100 The Highway, I think)

Force 4 are still in business, but their web site makes no mention of the London shop, so I presume it is no longer.

I am planning a short stop in London in the next few weeks, and would like to do some chandler shopping. Can anyone recommend a chandlers near the centre??

I can't remember its name but I have no doubt that someone will know - I used to work for a company that had an office in Shaftesbury Avenue and there's definitely a dusty chandler in and around there. Anyone?

Ocean Leisure have the worst customer service that I have experienced in a Chandlers... no mean feat!

Didn't know about Arthur Beales. Will try that one myself I think.

I take it you suggest, then, that I make it quite clear in Beales that I don't want to tie a winch-wench to the mast!!! I'll bear it in mind.

Thanks to all of you for your replies.

All three sites are within reach of my intended stopover point, as well as the bookshops in Charing Cross Road.
