Off to Miami Beach on Saturday for a conference. Thought I ought to take advantage of the exchange rate and go boat bits shopping. Anyone recommend where I might go? I wont have a car which I know can be a problem if looking for a good price in the states.

Looking for some cabin lights and a pair of triple jammers. Items need to be small enuf to get past SWMBO on return home.

What a hard life...:)

There must be a WestMarine in Miami, try starting there.

There are two West Marine stores in Miami, the one nearest you will be on 40th street, I believe. There is a Boaters World on the way to Key Largo, Overseas Highway.
If you can get a ride up to Fort Lauderdale you will be boater heaven.

Are these distances doable by taxi (without breaking the bank)? Hard to tell from the map on the Westmarine site.

There is, or was, a perfectly good chandlers in the marina at the south end of Miami. Be aware that Marathon is over 100 miles from Miami it's 50 miles short of Key West which is where I'll be in 10 days time, oh dear what a shame I hear you say...

I mean Highway 1, South Dixie Highway, Overseas Highway, call it what you will; there is a Boaters World there in Miami. No-one would go to Marathon from Miami to find a Boaters World!

Yes, I know the one you mean. Timewise, getting there, you feel that you might just as well carry on to Marathon once you're clear of the car dealerships.
