How do you measure the width of your anchor chain, is it from outside to outside or do you measure the gap in between, & also how do you measure the size of a shackle , for example a 3/4 inch shackle where is the measurement taken from.

and if you are measuring the thickness of the rust - you should probably replace it /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

seriously, if you have an electric/manual windlass, the size can be critical You realy need to ensure that the link is calibrated to the windlass. for example 3/8" and 10mm these are not interchangeable despite only 0.5mm difference. The wrong chain can cause it to jump off the gypsy when under load.
