Hi all.
I'm trying to source a Blake Slip, to relieve the windlass of the strain of the mooring chain, etc. These are specifically made for anchor chain, with a locking ring, and are not the same as Pelican hooks or a similar Senhouse slip. This is to fit 10mm chain.
I can find commercial shipping sizes all made in China, but I can find none for smaller boats or chain sizes. There exist chain hooks and chain grippers, but neither of these have a locking or preventer ring on them.
Has anyone seen any, without getting them custom made?
 
There are various other options to the more traditional Blake Slip, depending on what you want to achieve. Some may not cosmetically suit a more traditional yacht, so they may not be ideal, but they are worth a look.

The best way to secure the chain is with a simple soft shackle. If you want to secure the chain with a clutch system (this has advantages in many situations), a chain stopper is the best solution. On the other hand, if you want to tighten the anchor when secured on the anchor roller, a devils claw has advantages.

Personally, I use all the above devices, as although there is some overlap, they each excel in different roles.
