Cetrek 727 Autopilot .... circuit diagram please

I have just purchased a Catana 40 with a Cetrek 727 hydraulic autopilot.

It isn't working at the moment. I have been told that a diode has blown ..... but the repairer's need a circuit diagram. Can anyone help please?

I would also appreciate comments on how good these units are ....... and indeed whether the hydraulic gear can be operated with another make of controller .... i.e. Raymarine, Simrad, etc
 
For any early Cetrek owners, I DO have a full service manual with scematics for the 701 based system. If you pm me I can send it. I also have the 704 (I think it is, need to check) relay drive unit and control box.. the 'big box' in excellent condition, free to a good home.. but postage would have to be paid from Spain.

To the original poster, if you cannot get the unit sorted (I wold think the service center CAN sort it no worries) then yes, the dry bollock units can be powered by rm or similar.
It seems Cetrek were bought out by simrad, who then immediated stopped support and spares.. just a case of buying up the competition, darn shame, because the quality of cetrek units is superb.

I asked Raymarine on Monday for advice on this unit ..... i.e. a suitable replacement ...... but they have failed to reply. I guess I wont be changing to one of their units /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Apologies for posting this to the forum instead of PM: I'm new here and haven't found my sea legs yet (haven't got PM installed).

Joe, if you're still watching this forum I'd be quite extraordinarily glad of a copy of that Cetrek 701 manual you mentioned, because I wrote it! But I left Cetrek about 1978, and I left Dorset in 1985, and somewhere along the way the manual got lost. I'd love to get hold of a copy for old times' sake.

And thank you for your kind words about my old firm. We tried very hard to engineer things well. They were happy days.

Hello to all I was reading this thread and lo and behold there was just what I badly need a copy of the 701 manual. |I have just joined this forum and feel a little out of my depth at the mo as I have not posted here before and dont want to take liberties, but if someone out there would be prepared to send me a copy of this manual I would be eternaly grateful. If there is a price to pay please let me know as I have a problem and nobody wants to get involved . All Ive been getting is buy a new one, but this unit has been my pal for a long time and im closer to it than my dearly beloved, so if I can give it the kiss of life I would keep it. Im in your hands and please if you can I would be indebted to you. Regards Norman

Sorry I have chucked the three Cetrek units I had in the skip, and if I had any manuals they went the same way. I think the units changed quite a bit during their lives. Certainly the eprom editions weren't the same.

The problems I had with mine were probably due to poor contacts in the switch panel. Come to think of it, I couldn't have had the manuals because I didn't know how to program it.

Hi Joe I replied to a post on this site to tradewind, about the manual for the 701, I meant to ask you if you still have it ? If so would it be a pain for me to ask you for a copy of the same,as I have a problem and need some literature to assist me in locating the problem. Hope you can be of assistance Regards Norman
