Hi folks, a whil eback, I read an article about a guy who runs celestial navigation courses based upon a cross channel ferry. Seemed to me like a clever idea if you chooseone of the long runs to St Malo or beyond.

Can anyone remember anything about these courses and the person/company who ran them? Any info appreciated - cheers

really depends what you want out of the course. The hardest bit abt using the setant is remembering how to fill out all the forms. handling the sextant can be done easily from your own boat. I just completed an ocean yachtmaster shore course at my local college - price was acceptable, and was a very good refresher on celestial work, passage planning and weather.

I spoke with him at LIBS in January.

It sounds like his courses go beyond the RYA syllabus in terms of celestial navigation.

Have kept his details as I would be interested in doing this course in the future.
