I have a 10 year old Nanni 20 HP 3 cyl diesel, which has just had a full rebuild. Does any one know the Cold Cranking Amps needed to start a 20 HP?? I want to use the smallest starter battery I can..

just get yourself a battery suitable for starting a diesel car ..Ive used one for years! your engine is less than 1Litre so even the smallest will do and a battery for a 1500cc car would be fine

I've used an ordinary battery for a small petrol car in the wife's Peugeot 205 diesel for 3 years, but it is a first time starter. I don,t know the Nanni, but if it's big and heavy like say a Lister, I would approach this from the other direction and fit the biggest (size and CCA) that you can get in.

Most motorcycles put out loads more HP than that, most of them are 12V systems and the bateries are tiny. Worth a look perhaps?
