The weather info on CBYC website shows 41 knots at 1230 today. Did that really happen?I thought there was a maximum of about 15 knots today .

Yes..believable! We motored over to Mermaid Quay for lunch and with no sail up had quite an angle of heel at times! Around 16:00 on the way back I definitely had 25 knots on the wind instrument and likely more. I've often thought that we get wind acceleration down the Ely and over the Bay, especially in W/NW winds. I think the sea breeze is complementing the gradient wind on afternoons like today as well. The GFS wind forecast for the area today was F2-3. What we had was 4-5 and higher gusts. Was it less out in the channel?

Just looked at the CBYC weather site. The 41kn gust seems to have disappeared, but 32kn was logged this afternoon and that is almost certainly correct.

The 41 knots recorded was yesterday lunch time.(Monday) Didnt sail yesterday but did today. We didnt go far I think the odd gust out in the channel may have touched 30 + knots briefly. We locked in at 1545 today, must have just missed you.

I sailed out of Barry yesterday and had much more wind than forecast. Most of the time it was 22 true SW. But very little sea.
Put a slab in just after clearing Jacksons Bay and rolled up the Yankee, set the Staysail then jogged along for a few hours over the tide. Is this going to be my last sail this week?
Hoping to get across to Porlock for the weekend.
