A full week after having placed an order with 'Marine Megastore' my order hadn't arrived, so I tried to phone up; no joy, they were apparently too busy to speak to me, but I was invited to make my enquiry via the 'online chat' button on their website.

Here I discovered that my order had been 'picked' today, but that as I needed it by next Tuesday evening at the latest, I would have to pay an additional £10 for their 'express' delivery service; so I have now been obliged to pay £15 to get a £10 item/100-150 gram delivered!

This is entirely my own fault, insofar as I only looked at there 'headline' delivery details which quote 'average 3 - 10 days' I now realise I should've looked further into Marine Megastore's T&C's , where they advise "please check status by using live chat after the 3-10 WORKING (my caps) days have elapsed".

So, if you need something inside two weeks, use their £15 'express' service, as that can clearly get an item to you within a week and a half.

Many chandlers hold little stock and back-order from a supplier as required. I experienced this recently with MES, who informed me what they were doing. Despite that I received my order within just a few days.

MMstore presumably do the same but their back order seems to go out with a massive delay. Their people are especially trained in being evasive and difficult it seems.

Fifth hit on google for marine megastore is a collection of threads on this forum saying how rubbish they are.

Not much use to you now, I know :(

Abandon hope and never go near them again!
(Do not confuse with Marine Superstore at Port Solent, they are generally very good.)

I use Marinescene and have never had a problem with them. They are normally the lowest price or equal to it.
No connection, other than a happy customer.

Correction - Trade with someone else - There are plenty of much better ones around and whose prices are just as competitive. Marine Superstore for one; I had great service from them.

Suggest you try Gaelforce my local store-everything is there in a very big wharehouse.
I wonder how physically big Marine Megastore is-be advised that there are a lot of paper companies trading on line-all they have is office space perhaps at home and a computer-you order-they order-if you are lucky item is dispatched direct to you or if unlucky it goes via them.
Sometimes this works -I have had very good experiences with "plumbing firms"The first where I got a bath at a very good price which the online firm ordered from my local "Plumb" store who delivered it.On the second occasion I ordered a central heating oil burner unit which the online store ordered from Wolesley Plumbers Merchants who flew it via UPS first class from Bristol to Inverness-free delivery!
So it can work if the business has a good set up.
But then it can happen with well known firms-I ordered two DVDs from Amazon-free delivery-they were waiting for one to come in -two weeks later nothing so cancel the delayed item and remaining item order was just dispatched.

Another vote for Marine Superstore at Port Solent, I've always had excellent service from them including taking things back which were no fault of theirs.

I feel sorry for them, they must lose some custom being confused with 'mega'.

Last Sunday night I ordered 2 tins of antifoul from Marine Superstore. They arrived Tuesday with no charge for postage and beautifully packed to boot. Excellent service and as for the other lot? Treat them like lepers, not to be aproached at any cost.

IMO they are a complete waste of space. Rang them last week re new cooker "15% off your first order" but not if the cooker is already on offer!
Could not or would not quote a del date I am still thinking maybe but then " + 10 % for payment on debit /credit card -- at that point I told them where to go.
Bought the same cooker from Marine Scene 10 mins later, got a quote emailed and had delivery next day - brilliant.

Well after reading all the warning threads on here I had no choice but to use them in order to get a particular switch panel that nobody else is selling in the UK.

I called them up first, checked they had it in stock. In order to ensure I got the item I arranged to pick it up in person as they had already verified it was in stock. Only then did I part with the card details.

All went to plan, got the discount, got the goods and I'm a happy man.

I wouldn't trust blind ordering via the web nor would I go near any of those chat on line jobbies. Usually it's a Muppet at the other end or a chat script with semi automated answers.

This worked for me, be prepared to travel in person.

I honestly don't know how they can go on being in business with such a bad reputation.
