What is the best substance for paying the seams of a larch planked boat under the waterline. I am torn between red lead putty or mastic type such as 'Sikaflex'? What is the general concensus? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

NOT Sikaflex!

Won't stick at all to a wet seam; sticks altogether too well to a dry one

If the seams are likely to move a bit, I highly recommend Jeffreys' Seamflex.

"From the better type of chandler"!

Jeffreys, needless to say do not seem to have heard about the Internet, yet, but it's wonderful stuff.
