Caterpillar Intake Temps

Hi all,

With the seeming demise of boatdiesel.com, a fountain of my Caterpillar learning has gone, so here we go. 3126B's (HEUI 450hp) , does anyone know the normal intake temperature range. Mine seem to run from late 20's deg C to early 40's deg C.

Your temps do not seem outrageous to me. They have cooled charge air. Where have you taken these temps?

I've intake temp sensors on the inlet manifold as air enters the head. The Cat digital displays report it all.
I've removed one aftercooler as maintenance is due anyway and the core is looking pretty grubby. Not to mention a small chunk of the inner lip on one seal channel on the housing is missing so will need repairing..

The Port Engine Aftercooler (the hotter of the two) hopefully comes out tomorrow.. I'm bracing myself to taking the caps of that one..
